Common Questions
Yes. The four-year Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education is accredited by the Developmental Educators Australia Inc (DEAI), and graduates can apply for full membership with the DEAI to practice as a Developmental Educator and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner.
The course is available in person at Bedford Park and City campuses, as well as online with placements/intensives. Domestic students can study full-time or part-time, however part-time equivalent study options are not available for international students. Start dates are available in March and July.
The course includes professional placements (Practicum) throughout all four years. In Year 2 and Year 3 you undertake placement opportunities to apply your learnings, and in Year 4 you complete a Practicum and mentoring program designed to help you graduate ready for practice as a Developmental Educator.
Yes. Graduates can boost their knowledge with an Honours in Health Sciences, which is a one-year full-time (or two-years part-time) program that extends research skills, critical analysis, and project management. The program allows you to specialise in a health discipline of your choice and prepares you for a career in health research or further academic pursuits, including a PhD.
Domestic students require a Guaranteed Entry ATAR of 65.00, a STAT score of 150.0, or a GPA of 4.0. TAFE/VET applicants need a Certificate IV or above. Pathway options include a Diploma in Disability and Community Practice or an Associate Degree in Disability and Community Practice. International students must meet an IELTS overall score of 6.0 (with Speaking and Writing both at 6.0) or a Pearson overall score of 50. There are no prerequisites or assumed knowledge requirements.
