The Australian Early Childhood Context
Provides a comprehensive analysis of the role of government and of relevant research that is indicative of the importance of early childhood education. Contemporary curriculum and legislative documents/frameworks will be examined with particular emphasis on relevant approved learning frameworks and curriculum documents.
Introduction to Academic Writing and Research
Aims to prepare students for effective study at an undergraduate level. Provides an overview of the multiliteracy skills of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and researching relevant for effective study, research, teaching practice, and ITE requirements (LANTITE).
Early Childhood Perspectives Past and Present
Introduces students to early childhood education within the context of a contemporary and changing world. Students engage with theoretical perspectives that have contributed to the history and philosophy of early childhood education.
Early Childhood Development, Wellbeing and Inclusivity
Introduces child development theories and approaches to child well-being, protection and inclusivity. Students examine major theories and current issues in child development, well-being, and inclusivity and apply them to educational practice.
Early Childhood Praxis and Pedagogy
Introduces students to the fundamentals of early childhood pedagogies and professional practice with a focus on children birth to 35 months. Principles of respectful, responsive and play based pedagogies and early child development will be analysed to best support learning and wellbeing of very young children.
Brain Development from a 21st Century Perspective
Provides students with an introduction to the field of educational neuroscience. Explores the brain's structure, development and functions and investigates how we can apply this understanding to support optimal learning and wellbeing.
Early Childhood Ethics and Professional Practice
Guides students to develop awareness of and clarify their thinking around ethical frameworks and professional practice in Early Childhood practice. Quality practice requirements and issues such as compliance and quality improvement will be addressed.
Teaching Pedagogies
Provides a comprehensive analysis of the theories of play and play-based pedagogies and of relevant research that is indicative of the importance of play in early childhood education.

The course incorporates 80 days of professional experience in early childhood education settings, with a minimum of 15 days in Australian early childhood settings with children under three years old (birth – 35 months) and a minimum of 30 days in Australian early childhood settings with children aged three to five, before they start formal schooling.
The fee is $2,579 per subject for full-fee paying students (FEE-HELP available), or $592 per subject for eligible students under a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP).
The course consists of 24 subjects totalling 190 credit points, structured over six semesters each of 12 weeks duration, with four subjects taught per semester. The credit points comprise 10 cp from Christian Studies, 180 cp from Education Studies (including 10 cp Curriculum Studies and 40 cp ECEC Professional Experience).
The program provides opportunity for students to explore evidence-based theory and innovative practice through a Christian worldview and to embed biblical principles and perspectives in their teaching practice, helping students develop as educators who teach with purpose, compassion, and conviction.
