About This Course

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at Holmesglen prepares you for a professional career teaching and supporting young children in early childhood education settings. Delivered at Holmesglen's Glen Waverley campus in Melbourne, this three-year degree combines academic study with practical learning and industry-focused teaching. General Requirements

Domestic Students:

Domestic Students with Prior Higher Education Study: applicants who have previously commenced or completed subjects within a higher education course, at a university or non-university higher education provider, either recently or in the past, are encouraged to apply. Applicants transferring from another education provider, or those seeking to change to the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at Holmesglen, may apply for advanced standing, assessed on an individual basis.
Domestic Students with Prior VET Study: applicants who have completed an Australian VET Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline will be considered for entry. Applicants who have completed the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care may be eligible for advanced standing with credit, assessed case-by-case.
Domestic Students with Work and Life Experience: applicants with relevant work and life experience who completed secondary education more than two years prior to applying, and who have not undertaken VET or higher education study since, are encouraged to apply, with a minimum of five years' relevant work experience.
Domestic Recent Secondary Students: eligibility is based on completion of VCE (or equivalent) within the current year or the previous two years, including one of: Units 3 and 4 in English other than EAL with a study score of at least 25; EAL with a study score of at least 30; a study score of at least 25 in any VCE Mathematics subject; or the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with a minimum score of 150 in both STAT Multiple Choice and STAT Written English.
Be at least 17 years of age at the time of course commencement.
Hold a current Working with Children Check.
Hold a current Police Record Check.
Complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and attend an interview prior to enrolment.
Provide certified copies of relevant qualifications and supporting documentation.

International Students:

Be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the course.
IELTS overall score of 6.5 (Academic) or equivalent English language tests.
Successful completion of VCE Year 12, or overseas equivalent (or, alternatively, completion of an Australian VET Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant discipline, or partial/completed higher education study).
All applications are assessed on an individual basis.
Applicants who have completed the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care within the last 12 months at Holmesglen may be eligible to receive credit towards the first year of the degree, subject to Holmesglen's credit and recognition of prior learning policies.
