Legal Internship

Yes. The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board. By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT). The minimum Selection Rank for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is 90. Yes. Law students are required to complete the Legal Internship subject (LLB3397). This subject involves a practical placement completed over 4 weeks, totalling 140 hours at 35 hours per week. It is designed to expose students to the application of the law in practice and enable them to develop skills in legal research, communication, drafting, practice management, and problem solving, as well as to observe the values, ethical standards, and conduct of the legal profession.
The double degree takes 5.5 years of full-time study, or the part-time equivalent. UOW notes that a double degree provides a world-class qualification in less time and at less cost than studying the two degrees separately.
The course is offered with an Autumn 2026 start (session beginning 2 March 2026) and a Spring 2026 intake. For Autumn 2026, key application deadlines include: UAC Early Bird by 30 September 2025, International applications by 9 December 2025, direct domestic applications by 31 December 2025, and UAC final round by 29 January 2026.
