Common Questions
You will complete 105 days of planned teaching practice in early childhood learning sites, kindergarten settings and schools. Placements are embedded in each year of your course: Year 1 includes a 15-day placement in a kindergarten setting and a 15-day placement in an early childhood education and care setting; Year 2 includes a 25-day placement in a kindergarten setting; Year 3 includes a 20-day placement in a school setting; and Year 4 includes a 30-day placement in a school setting.
The Catholic Education Strand is an optional specialisation that allows students to gain accreditation to teach in a Catholic School, teaching the curriculum for the Rockhampton Diocese of Catholic Education. Entry to the strand is via an application process occurring in the second year of the course. Applications are welcomed from students within the Diocese, which stretches from Mackay to Bundaberg and west to Longreach. Online students may also apply, but students studying outside the immediate geographical area must be able to complete Professional Practice 3 and Professional Practice 4 within a school within the Diocesan region.
The LANTITE (Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education) is a national test administered by the Australian Council of Education Research (ACER). You must attempt both components in your first year of study and achieve a result of 'Standard Achieved' to be eligible for graduation and to acquire provisional teacher registration. You must also have met this requirement to be eligible to register for Professional Practice 3 and Professional Practice 4 placements. Students proficient in an Australian First Nations language can use this as an alternative in place of all LANTITE requirements.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) are eligible to apply for provisional registration as a teacher upon completion of the course, administered in Queensland by the Queensland College of Teachers. Graduates are also recognised as early childhood teachers (ECT) by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
Yes. From July 2025, the Australian Government has established a new Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) for eligible students to help manage the costs associated with undertaking a mandatory placement (also known as a practicum or work-integrated learning). You can learn more about CPP on the CQUniversity website.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
