Common Questions
You will complete 85 days of planned teaching practice in primary schools across four blocks embedded in each year of the course: a 15-day supervised placement in Year 1 (Professional Practice 1), a 20-day placement in Year 2 (Professional Practice 2), a 20-day placement in Year 3 (Professional Practice 3), and a 30-day placement in Year 4 (Professional Practice 4).
The Catholic Education Strand is an optional pathway that teaches the curriculum for the Rockhampton Diocese of Catholic Education, allowing you to be accredited to teach in a Catholic School. Entry is via an application process that occurs in the second year of the course. Applications are welcomed from students within the Diocese, which stretches from Mackay to Bundaberg and west to Longreach. Online students may also apply. If you are studying outside the immediate geographical area of the Diocese, you must be able to complete Professional Practice 3 and Professional Practice 4 within a school within the Diocesan region.
The Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) is a nationally administered test by the Australian Council of Education Research (ACER). You must attempt both components of the LANTITE in your first year of study. You must achieve a result of 'Standard Achieved' in both components to be eligible for graduation and to acquire provisional teacher registration. Additionally, you must have met this standard to be eligible to register for Professional Practice 3 and Professional Practice 4 placements.
The Bachelor of Education (Primary) includes specialisations in English, Science and Mathematics, providing you with 'in demand' knowledge and skills. If you are located within the Rockhampton Diocese, you can also undertake a specialisation in Catholic Education, which allows you to be accredited to teach in a Catholic School.
To be eligible, you must meet a minimum ATAR or Selection Rank of 62.00. Prerequisites include English (Units 3 and 4, C) or equivalent, and one of General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C) or equivalent. English Language Proficiency requirements also apply. If you don't meet these requirements, CQU offers a range of alternative entry pathways depending on your background and previous experience.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
