Over the course of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree, you will undertake 85 days of placement. Professional experience begins from your first year of study across state, Catholic, and independent schools. In your final year, you will also complete a mandatory five-day intensive Professional Orientation Program. Placement opportunities include regional, rural and remote areas.
As part of the Bachelor of Education (Primary), you can choose one of the following specialisations: English/Literacy, Mathematics/Numeracy, Science, or Health and Physical Education. You should consult the handbook for specialisations available at each campus.
Yes, the Bachelor of Education (Primary) Online is available for students with busy lives. You will study one subject at a time, up to six times a year, with each subject running for six weeks. By completing six subjects per year, you can complete the degree in 5 years, with options to accelerate completion in 4 years. The online format also provides 10 weeks of breaks across the year.
The estimated annual tuition fee for international students is AUD $34,649, plus a Student Services and Amenities Fee payable per subject up to a maximum amount per year. International course fees are reviewed annually and subject to change. Student Visa holders must also have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their Student Visa. Scholarships and financial aid are available for eligible international students.
Yes, the Bachelor of Education (Primary) is part of the Remote Area Teacher Education Program (RATEP) pathway. RATEP's aim is to increase the number of registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teachers in Queensland by offering courses in communities where students live, through a partnership between JCU, TAFE Queensland and the Queensland Department of Education. RATEP centres are based in numerous school communities where teacher coordinators will support students in their study.
