This four-year degree offers flexible full-time and part-time study options and is designed to prepare you to teach primary-aged children in Catholic, independent, and government schools across Australia. You will develop strong foundations across the key learning areas of the primary curriculum, including English and literacy, Mathematics and numeracy, Science and Technology, the Arts, Health and Physical Education, and the social sciences, and Religious Education if you choose.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

WA – Applicants with recent Secondary Education: Indicative ATAR/Selection Rank of 70 OR International Baccalaureate (IB) score of 25 (Selection Ranks include ATAR plus Adjustment Factors)
NSW – Applicants with recent Secondary Education: Prescribed ATAR/Selection Rank OR Equivalent International Baccalaureate (IB) score (Selection Ranks include ATAR plus Adjustment Factors)
Applicants with Higher Education: Successful completion of 4 subjects at an undergraduate level or higher OR Successful completion of the Notre Dame Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP), or a tertiary preparation program from another institution that is deemed to be of a similar academic rigour to the Notre Dame TPP
Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) study: Successful completion of AQF Certificate IV or higher from an accredited provider such as TAFE or a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
Applicants with Work and Life Experience: Must be 20 years of age as at 1 March in the year of intake and meet one or more of the following:
- At least two years of relevant work experience (evidence of duties undertaken and years of experience required; STAT may be required)
- Completion of STAT with scores of at least 135 (WA) or 150 (NSW) in the Multiple Choice section and 140 (WA) or 150 (NSW) in the Written English section
- Completion of two Year 12 WACE, HSC or equivalent exams with a result equivalent to the Indicative ATAR/Selection Rank
STAT results must have been obtained within the last three calendar years
Broome Campus (Reach Higher): Students must demonstrate residence in an Inner Regional, Outer Regional, Remote or Very Remote part of Australia as defined in the Australian Standard Geography Standard (ASGS) Remoteness Structure (2021)
All applicants must satisfy the Minimum University Admission Requirements including those relating to minimum age and English Language Proficiency

How much practical teaching experience will I get during the degree?

You will complete 30 weeks (150 days) of supervised school-based placements throughout the degree, allowing you to build confidence, refine your teaching practice, and graduate profession-ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the next generation.

What specialisations are available in this program?

You can tailor your degree by choosing a specialisation in Religious Education (which makes you eligible for accreditation to teach in Catholic schools), English Education, Mathematics Education, Service Learning and Social Justice (WA only), or Special and Inclusive Education.
