Common Questions
Students will complete a 3-week placement (PPA2211) in Year 2 and a 5-week placement (PPA3211) in Year 3. These practicum placements allow students to apply their knowledge of secondary education and build professional and generic employability skills in real classroom settings, culminating in a 9-week Assistant Teacher professional experience placement (PPA4311) in the final year of the degree.
You can choose from the following majors: Biological Science Education, Chemistry Education, Design and Technology Education, Drama Education, English Education, Food and Materials Technologies: Home Economics, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences Education, Mathematics Education, Music Education, and Visual Arts Education.
For domestic students, the estimated first year indicative fee is AUD $5,950 (Commonwealth supported). For international students, the estimated first year indicative fee is AUD $40,200.
Yes. To be eligible to graduate, students will be required to pass the National Literacy and Numeracy Test (LANTITE). Further information on LANTITE requirements at ECU can be found at https://www.ecu.edu.au/schools/education/courses/lantite.
Yes, domestic students can study full-time or part-time. The course is available at the Joondalup campus in both Semester 1 and Semester 2. Note that this course requires attendance at more than one campus or location — students may be required to attend both Joondalup and Mount Lawley campuses depending on their selected major and minor combination.
