This program is an advanced year of study for high-achieving students and builds upon a completed undergraduate degree in education. In the first instance, prospective students should contact the Honours Convenor at jae.jung@unsw.edu.au to discuss eligibility, research topic and honours program options before submitting an application through the Apply Online portal.
For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $4,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $4,500. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year fee is $52,000 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $53,000. Fees are subject to annual review and may vary.
Yes, the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) (Honours) provides a pathway to graduate research degrees such as the UNSW Master of Education (Research) or the UNSW Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and can ultimately lead to careers in academia, research, policy, government, and consultancy.
The degree aims to further develop knowledge and skills gained during a Bachelor of Education. Students will discover new ways of appreciating the place of ethics in education, interrogate disciplinary frameworks, assumptions and processes in the context of ethical values, learn about educational research methods and approaches, and increase research skills in critical thinking, reflection and analysis. The total units of credit (UOC) for the program is 48.
