Common Questions
Yes. The Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Honours) is fully accredited by Engineers Australia, the professional body responsible for the accreditation of higher education programs that prepare students to practise as professional engineers. Engineers Australia is a signatory to the Washington Accord, meaning the degree is internationally recognised in all 18 signatory countries — including the USA, UK, China, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and Singapore — and graduates are eligible for graduate and/or professional membership of Engineers Australia.
In Years 3 and 4 you will develop high-level technical and design skills and focus on a specialist area such as energy conversion, power systems, renewable energy, high-voltage equipment, and control engineering. Your major team and individual design projects will further develop your communication, management and teamwork skills in these areas.
Before graduating, you are strongly encouraged to complete a minimum of 10 weeks of engineering industry experience under the supervision of a practising professional engineer. Opportunities also exist for an overseas work placement of between six and 12 months, normally taken during a one-year break in the middle or at the end of third year. You will also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 2, 3 or 4, and undertake a major industry-based or industry-simulating capstone project in your final year.
Several scholarships are available. The CitiPower Future Women in Electrical Engineering Scholarship is for students who identify as a woman progressing to specialise in electrical or electronic engineering, worth up to $15,000. The BAE Systems Australia William-Hicks Scholarship for Women in Engineering from Regional Australia is for first- or second-year Bachelor of Engineering students who identify as a woman and are from a rural/regional area, worth up to $60,000. The BAE Systems Australia First Nations Scholarship in Engineering is for first- or second-year Indigenous Bachelor of Engineering students, worth up to $40,000.
For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), the annual student contribution for Engineering courses is AU$9,537 per standard full-time year (2026). International students are charged AU$47,040 per year (2026 annual fee). In addition, there is a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of up to AU$373 per year. Eligible domestic students may defer tuition fees through a HECS-HELP loan and the SSAF through SA-HELP. The Australian Government repayment threshold applies once you earn above the minimum income threshold.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
