The indicated entry ATAR is 80.00 (including any adjustment factors). Entry is competitive, and eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their ATAR plus any adjustment factors. You may be eligible for up to 28 aggregate adjustment points through equity access schemes and/or subject adjustments. A study score of 25 in Information Technology, Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods, Maths: Specialist Mathematics, or any Science earns 2 aggregate points per subject, up to a maximum of 8 points from subject adjustments.
You must have successfully completed VCE Units 3 and 4 (or equivalent) with: a study score of at least 25 in English (other than EAL) or at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL), or equivalent; AND a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods, or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.
The degree is structured over four years. In Years 1 and 2, you study the fundamentals of computer systems, communication, network, and electrical and electronic engineering, including essential mathematics and physics. In Year 3, you choose a major in either Computer Systems and Network Engineering, or Electronic and Communication Engineering, and also choose a minor (options include Electronic and Communication Engineering, Computer Systems and Network Engineering, Security Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Technologies, Humanitarian Innovation, or Spacecraft Technologies). You complete six core subjects and two technical electives from your major, plus four subjects from your minor. In your final year, you undertake a major team-based engineering capstone design project. Throughout the degree you also study STEM Future Technology Skills subjects and complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective.
This course is offered as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). In 2026, the annual student contribution amount (tuition fee) for a standard full-time year is between AU$4,738 and AU$17,399, depending on the band of individual enrolled subjects. Engineering subjects fall in the band covering Allied Health, Computing, Engineering, Science and related disciplines, which is AU$9,537 per standard year (AU$1,192 per standard 12 credit point course). The maximum Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) for 2026 is AU$373. Eligible students may defer fees via HECS-HELP and SSAF via SA-HELP loans.

Yes. Before graduating, students are strongly encouraged to complete a minimum of 10 weeks of engineering industry experience under the supervision of a practising professional engineer. Opportunities also exist for overseas work placements of between six and 12 months, normally taken during a one-year break in the middle or end of third year. In the final year, students may undertake an industry-sponsored design project as part of the Engineering Capstone Project. The degree is fully accredited by Engineers Australia and is recognised internationally under the Washington Accord, allowing graduates to practise as professional engineers in many countries worldwide.
