Common Questions
Yes, the CC31 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) course is fully accredited by Engineers Australia. Graduates are recognised as professional engineers and are eligible for Graduate membership with EA. Note that the following recently introduced majors have provisional accreditation until there are sufficient graduates for review: Electrical with Data Analytics, Electrical with Information Processing, Resource Systems, and Civil with Humanitarian.
Students can choose from a wide range of majors including Civil Engineering (Civil, Civil with Humanitarian, Civil with Trade Practice), Electrical Engineering (Electrical, Electrical with Data Analytics, Electrical with Industrial Automation, Electrical with Information Processing, Electrical with Trade Practice), Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical, Mechanical with Agricultural Machinery, Mechanical with Industrial Automation, Mechanical with Process Systems, Mechanical with Renewable Energy, Mechanical with Trade Practice), and Resource Systems Engineering (Resource Systems, Resource Systems with Trade Practice).
Students are required to complete 480 hours of engineering practice, including a minimum of 240 hours of industry experience, prior to graduation. CQU will facilitate this process, allowing students to undertake their professional practice at any engineering firm they choose. Once completed, students must enrol in the Engineering Practice Experience unit (ENEP14004) and provide evidence of how they have attained the required professional engineering practice exposure.
Yes. If you hold a TAFE qualification (eligible courses only) and have relevant trade experience, you may be eligible to apply for recognised prior learning for the Trade Practice elective, which could result in a reduced course duration. Alternatively, you may choose the Trade Practice electives to integrate approximately 600 hours of TAFE training and experience into the course. More broadly, if you have prior experience or have studied previously, you may be eligible for credit or recognition of prior learning (RPL), which can help reduce your study load and the time it takes to complete your degree.
Yes. CQU offers a variety of scholarships and bursaries to help with a range of expenses and enhance employability. Additionally, CQU's Engineering Cadetship Program, developed in partnership with a variety of organisations, allows students to build industry connections and gain hands-on experience, earn while they learn, and receive support throughout their studies.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
