You can choose from six different Engineering majors: Chemical Engineering (Townsville only), Civil Engineering (Townsville only), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Townsville and Cairns), Electronic Systems and Internet of Things (IoT) Engineering (Cairns only), Maritime Engineering – Pathway to the University of Tasmania (Cairns, Years 1 and 2 only), and Mechanical Engineering (Townsville only).
Yes, JCU's Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is accredited by Engineers Australia. Note that the Electrical and Electronic Engineering major on the Cairns campus holds provisional accreditation status until the first cohort graduates, at which time JCU is able to apply for full accreditation.
Studies culminate in the fourth year with an Honours component — a major engineering project and thesis. You will research a current industry issue and work towards designing a solution. An Honours degree also supports entry into a Higher Degree by Research.
Students participate in twelve weeks of work placements with industry partners and may have the opportunity for paid work experience. With opportunities in the Digital and Data spheres, you can align your studies to part-time work, that may translate into a full-time job offer upon graduation.
The estimated annual Commonwealth Supported Fee for a full-time study load is $8,320, though this estimate is variable and subject to fluctuation depending on choice of elective subjects. A Student Services and Amenities fee also applies. Fee deferral and scholarships are available if eligible. Fees displayed are for 2026 and are subject to change in following years.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
