Yes. In order to satisfy course accreditation requirements as specified by Engineers Australia, all online enrolled students are required to participate in campus-based learning activities at Deakin's Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus during intensive week each trimester. Failure to attend may result in students not meeting the hurdle requirement of the respective assessment, which may result in a fail grade for the affected unit(s).
Through SEL703 Professional Practice, students are required to complete at least 30 to 60 days of practical work experience in an engineering workplace. This provides the opportunity to explore potential career paths and build valuable professional networks, with assessment tasks designed to deepen understanding of the engineering profession and strengthen professional practice skills.
To complete the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), students must pass 32 credit points, comprising 11 credit points of core units, 1 major (19 credit points), and 2 credit points of open elective units, along with several 0-credit-point compulsory units. Each trimester, 50% of time is dedicated to project- and design-based learning, with a minimum of 10 credit points at level 3 or above required.
The course is available at Burwood (Melbourne), Waurn Ponds (Geelong), and Online for both Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 intakes. However, students enrolled at Burwood should note that the majors are being phased in: third year units of the environmental and sustainability engineering, mechanical engineering, and mechatronics engineering majors will be available at Burwood from 2026, and second year units of the civil engineering and electrical and renewable energy engineering majors will be available from 2026.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
