You can choose from eight engineering majors: Architectural (combining structural and environmental building engineering with architectural creativity), Biomedical (application of electrical, electronics and systems engineering in medicine and biology), Civil, Electrical and Electronic (power system design, electronics, control systems, signal processing and embedded systems), Mechanical (mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and energy), Product Design (combining industrial design creativity with engineering science), Robotics and Mechatronics (mechanical, electronics and software disciplines), and Software (advanced software engineering with emphasis on teamwork and problem solving).
The Bachelor of Arts component offers eight majors: Climate and Social Justice, Criminology and Social Change, Ethics and Technology, Indigenous Studies, Literature and Creative Writing, Perspectives on Globalisation, Politics, Power and Technology, and Screen Studies and Popular Culture.
The guaranteed entry ATAR for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Arts is 75. You'll be guaranteed a place if you meet or exceed this score, provided you also meet the course prerequisites. The lowest ATAR to receive an offer in 2024 after adjustment factors was 73.5, meaning students below the guaranteed entry score may still receive an offer based on subject adjustments, equity schemes or other factors.
Applicants who do not meet the mathematics prerequisites for this course will be required to successfully complete Swinburne's MathsLink Methods bridging program. The mathematics prerequisite requires VCE Units 3 and 4 with a minimum study score of 20 in one of General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics, or an equivalent qualification.
Yes, one approved pathway into this course is the Associate Degree of Applied Technologies – Advanced Manufacturing, which is a 2-year full-time program that provides up to 8 units of maximum credit towards the double degree. Credit is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and credit available may vary depending on the major selected within the degree.
