About This Course

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Arts is a double degree combining engineering disciplines with arts majors. The engineering component offers majors including Architectural, Biomedical, Civil, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, Product Design, Robotics and Mechatronics, and Software. The arts component offers majors including Climate and Social Justice, Criminology and Social Change, Ethics and Technology, Indigenous Studies, Literature and Creative Writing, Perspectives on Globalisation, Politics, Power and Technology, and Screen Studies and Popular Culture.

Successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification
Completion or partial completion of an approved tertiary qualification (including diplomas, advanced diplomas, associate degrees and degrees)
Guaranteed Entry ATAR: 75
Lowest ATAR to receive an offer in 2024 (after adjustment factors): 73.5
VCE Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in any English (except EAL) or 30 in English as Alternate Language (EAL) or equivalent
VCE Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics or Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics or equivalent
Applicants who do not meet the mathematics prerequisites will be required to successfully complete Swinburne's MathsLink Methods bridging program
Subject adjustments: A study score of 25 in Biology, Chemistry, any Information Technology, any Mathematics or Physics equals 2 aggregate points per study
A study score of 30 in Biology, Chemistry, any Information Technology, any Mathematics or Physics equals 3 aggregate points per study
A study score of 35 in Mathematics Methods or Specialist Maths equals 5 aggregate points per study
Overall maximum of 15 subject adjustment points (applied to the aggregate, not the ATAR)
International English language requirement: IELTS overall band of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
Or Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 65%, all skills 65% or above
Meeting the minimum entry requirements for the course does not guarantee offer of a place

What if I don't meet the mathematics prerequisite for this course?

Applicants who do not meet the mathematics prerequisites for this course will be required to successfully complete Swinburne's MathsLink Methods bridging program. The mathematics prerequisite requires VCE Units 3 and 4 with a minimum study score of 20 in one of General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics, or an equivalent qualification.

Yes, one approved pathway into this course is the Associate Degree of Applied Technologies – Advanced Manufacturing, which is a 2-year full-time program that provides up to 8 units of maximum credit towards the double degree. Credit is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and credit available may vary depending on the major selected within the degree.
