Upon completing this five-year double degree program, you will earn a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Materials Science and Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering Science in Chemical Engineering.
Yes. The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) component of this double degree is fully accredited with Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer, and graduates are recognised internationally through the Washington Accord.
For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $8,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $47,500. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $62,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $344,000.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Materials Science and Engineering includes 60 days of approved Engineering Professional Practice.
Domestic students (Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand citizens) apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), where they can nominate up to five degrees in order of preference. On-time applications for Term 1 admission usually close at the end of September each year. Most international students apply via UNSW's Apply Online service, and are encouraged to submit completed applications as early as possible for their preferred term.
