The Bachelor of Fine Arts / Engineering (Honours) is a 5.7-year double degree program that can be completed full-time or the part-time equivalent. It usually consists of 44 courses making up 264 Units of Credit (UOC), with 16 courses for Fine Arts and 28 for Engineering.
You can choose from 19 engineering specialisations including Aerospace Engineering, Bioinformatics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mining Engineering, Quantum Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Software Engineering, Surveying, and Telecommunications. For Fine Arts, you can choose one of four specialisations: Animation & Moving Image, Art Theory, Music, or Visual Arts.
Through the Bachelor of Engineering, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is built in, guaranteeing at least 60 days of approved Engineering Professional Practice experience and connecting you with industry as you study. You also have the opportunity to collaborate on real-world engineering problems through the ChallENG program. Through the Fine Arts degree, you'll take part in professional development experiences such as exhibitions, screenings, studio internships, performances, and ensembles, supported by experienced professional artists and creative practitioners.
Yes, the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) component of this double degree is fully accredited with Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer. Graduates are recognised internationally through the Washington Accord. Students should refer to individual specialisation pages for specific accreditation details.
For domestic students in 2026, the lowest selection rank (ATAR plus adjustment factors) is 95.0, and the lowest ATAR before adjustment factors is 89.1. Assumed knowledge includes Mathematics Extension 1 and Physics. UNSW also offers a range of adjustment factor schemes including HSC Plus (up to 5 points), Elite Athletes, Performers and Leaders (up to 5 points), and the Educational Access Scheme (1–10 points). Admission pathways such as the Gateway Admission Pathway and the Young Women in Engineering Pathway Program are also available.
