They apply knowledge of materials, structures, energy and management to the solution of technical problems. Management involves the planning, organising, coordination and direction of the resources of organisations. As a technical and engineering specialist, your professional opportunities are expansive. In Years 1 and 2, students study basic mechanical engineering and engineering science subjects, covering engineering physics, mathematics, design, and professional practice, including the Engineers Without Borders Challenge. Year 3 focuses on developing business skills in areas such as marketing, business management, human resources and global business. In Years 4 and 5, specialist mechanical elective subjects are offered in various streams of expertise, culminating in a final-year capstone project. Students also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 5 and consolidate business studies through advanced management studies.

This program is taught predominantly at the City campus. However, students may have to travel to the Bundoora campus for laboratory, work-integrated learning (WIL) and/or capstone project work.
For international students, the annual tuition fee for the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)/Bachelor of Business is AU$51,744 for 2026. The program is available on campus with intakes in February and July.
