Yes, the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) is fully accredited by Engineers Australia, which is the professional body responsible for the accreditation of higher education programs that prepare students to practise as professional engineers. Engineers Australia is a signatory to the Washington Accord, meaning the program is internationally recognised and graduates are able to practise as professional engineers in many countries around the world. Graduates are also eligible for graduate and/or professional membership of Engineers Australia.
In Years 1 and 2, students study basic mechanical engineering and engineering science subjects, covering engineering physics, mathematics, design, and professional practice, including the Engineers Without Borders Challenge. Year 3 focuses on developing business skills in areas such as marketing, business management, human resources and global business. In Years 4 and 5, specialist mechanical elective subjects are offered in various streams of expertise, culminating in a final-year capstone project. Students also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 5 and consolidate business studies through advanced management studies.
Yes, RMIT offers a range of opportunities for students to study abroad through overseas work, exchange and study experiences with over 165 partner universities worldwide. Work-integrated learning is also embedded in this degree, including work placements in Australia and overseas, which helps boost career opportunities and build a global network.
This program is taught predominantly at the City campus. However, students may have to travel to the Bundoora campus for laboratory, work-integrated learning (WIL) and/or capstone project work.
For international students, the annual tuition fee for the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)/Bachelor of Business is AU$51,744 for 2026. The program is available on campus with intakes in February and July.
