Common Questions
Yes, the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (Honours) is accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of professional engineer. Professional engineering courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised internationally under the Washington Accord, and graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered professional engineering status.
The course is offered at both the Tonsley Campus and the City Campus. For students admitted to the City Campus offering, Years 1 and 2 will be completed at Flinders City Campus and Years 3 and 4 will be completed at Tonsley Campus.
Yes, in Year 3 students undertake Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which includes a 20-week work placement. Students also complete workplace preparation activities and their Mechanical Practice Certificate in Year 2 to ensure they are career-ready.
The prerequisite for entry is SACE Stage 2 Specialist Mathematics or Mathematical Methods (or equivalent). Knowledge of SACE Stage 2 Physics or equivalent is also assumed, though not a formal prerequisite.
Students begin selecting a major in Year 2 by choosing option topics related to their area of interest. The page references majors including Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Engineering Management. Students continue their chosen major throughout Years 3 and 4 with optional topics related to their major.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
