Common Questions
Yes, this course is accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of professional engineer. Professional engineering courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised internationally under the Washington Accord, and graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered professional engineering status.
Domestic students require a Guaranteed Entry ATAR of 75.00, a STAT of 155.0, or a GPA of 5.0 (TAFE/VET Diploma or above). Prerequisites include SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Specialist Mathematics or Mathematical Methods or equivalent. Knowledge of SACE Stage 2 physics or equivalent is assumed. International students require an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with Speaking and Writing both at 6.0, or a Pearson overall score of 50. Pathway options are also available.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics) (Honours) is delivered in person at Flinders University's Tonsley campus in South Australia. Students can commence in either March or July each year. The course runs for 4 years full-time, or part-time equivalent (note: part-time equivalent study options are not available for international students).
Graduates can pursue careers as Robotics Engineers, Automation Engineers (typical salary $110K in Australia), Mechatronics Engineers, Research and Development Engineers, and Embedded Systems Developers. With further postgraduate study and work experience, additional roles include Robotics Researcher, Machine Learning Engineer, Biomedical Engineer (specialising in Robotics), Systems Engineer, Automation Consultant, and Artificial Intelligence Specialist. Automation and robotics jobs growth is projected at 5.5% over 5 years, with over 1,533 job opportunities in Australia as of 2025.
In Year 4, you will undertake a substantial Honours Thesis in Electrical & Electronic Engineering alongside advanced topics including Autonomous Systems, Estimation & Control, and Machine Learning & Vision. You will also complete an Engineering Practicum that provides industry-relevant experience to help launch your robotics career.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
