Common Questions
The Bachelor of Engineering Technology offers three majors: Mechanical Engineering (covering mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and energy), Robotics and Mechatronic Engineering (combining mechanical, electronics and software engineering disciplines), and Software Engineering (focusing on teamwork, problem solving and practical software engineering skills including AI and mobile development).
This course is only available for international students and is specifically for Shandong University students. Applicants must have completed VCE or an equivalent Year 12 qualification (or partial tertiary qualification), a minimum study score of 23 in English (or 27 in EAL), a minimum study score of 20 in a relevant Mathematics subject, and meet English language requirements such as an IELTS overall band of 6.0 with no individual band below 6.0.
Students undertake an industry project each semester to build their professional portfolios and gain professional and workplace skills. Students also undertake a project dedicated to deepening their understanding of Indigenous knowledge, worldviews, standpoints, and culture relevant to STEM. Additionally, there is an optional professional work placement option worth 100 credit points.
The indicative 2026 yearly tuition fee for international students is AUD $47,320. These fees are estimates and are subject to annual review. A Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of $365 is also included within the annual tuition fee. Students who participate in a six- or 12-month professional placement will be subject to an increase in total course fees.
To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology, students must complete 300 credit points comprising core units, major units, and electives. The course is structured as 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time (3 years full-time for Shandong University students) and is delivered at the Hawthorn campus.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
