About This Course

Engineering and Commerce is a double degree combination that develops business skills and complements the qualities that make engineers competent business leaders: problem solving skills, planning skills, their focus on the future and continuous improvement. Many engineers work in areas outside of engineering, such as management, banking and consulting, and many go on to become CEOs of major corporations — almost 20 percent of CEOs of ASX100 companies are engineers. The dual degree includes the engineering common first year, allowing time to learn about engineering before choosing a specialisation — in this case, Environmental Engineering — and students also select their commerce major after sampling from across the main disciplines (economics, finance, management, marketing, sustainability, and others).
