That's what your first year is all about. You then build on those foundations by majoring in an area that aligns with your career goals. Choose from: Applied Earth Science; Aquatic Ecosystems; Climate and Sustainability; Ecology and Conservation; and Parks, Recreation and Heritage. Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management is an AQF Level 7 qualification, minimum 3 years full-time; maximum 6 years part-time, 192 credit points. It is offered at Albury-Wodonga — on campus and online. Indicative international tuition for 2026 is $35,840 - $36,880 per year of full-time study.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

A completed High School Certificate with the minimum ATAR required (including adjustment factors) or equivalent. OR
A completed Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR OR
A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification. OR
50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification. OR
A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies. OR
Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies. OR
Work experience, within the same industry as the course profile, of at least two years full time or equivalence, demonstrated by a detailed resume.

Domestic students:

Minimum selection rank for admission on the basis of an Australian Year 12 qualification (ATAR plus any adjustment factors): 60.

What majors can I choose from in the Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management?

You can choose from five majors: Applied Earth Science, Aquatic Ecosystems, Climate and Sustainability, Ecology and Conservation, and Parks, Recreation and Heritage. Each major allows you to specialise in an area that aligns with your career goals.

Can I study this course online, and when do sessions start?

Yes, the course is available both online and on campus. Sessions start on 2 March 2026 (On Campus and Online, Albury-Wodonga), 13 July 2026 (Online only), and 16 November 2026 (Online only).

Do I gain any qualifications along the way before completing the full bachelor's degree?

Yes. As you complete each year of study, you gain a qualification. After the first year, you can receive a Diploma of Environmental Studies; after the second, an Associate Degree in Environmental Science. So if you achieve a diploma and then want to work for a year, when you return, you'll go straight into the associate degree year, with credit for your completed diploma.

Are there opportunities for work-integrated learning or international experience?

Yes. The course includes work-based experiences that build to placements later in the degree, including opportunities for international study in places such as Bhutan, Cambodia and Nepal. Industry has also helped develop the course to ensure graduates have the skills that industry needs.

What if I don't meet the entry requirements for this course?

If you don't quite meet the eligibility criteria, you can complete the five-day Direct Entry Program or First Nations Connections Program and get a guaranteed place. Both programs are free, and if your program is on campus, Charles Sturt University will cover your travel, accommodation and meal costs.
