This course offers four specialisation areas for a single or double major: Biodiversity Assessment and Management (available at Townsville and Cairns), Coast to Coral (Townsville only), Land and Water Management (Townsville and Cairns), and People in Place (Townsville and Cairns).
For 2026, the estimated annual Commonwealth Supported fee is AUD $10,430 for domestic students, and the estimated annual tuition fee for international students is AUD $33,870 for a full-time study load. Both figures are subject to change in following years, and a Student Services and Amenities fee also applies. Fee deferral and scholarships are available if eligible.

The minimum ATAR required is 63. The lowest adjusted score offered at JCU Townsville for Trimester 1, 2025 was 70.65, and at JCU Cairns it was 72.15. Meeting the threshold does not guarantee admission, and adjustment factors such as the Regional Preference Scheme and QTAC's Educational Access Scheme (EAS) may apply.
