Common Questions
Yes, this course was awarded provisional accreditation (accreditation with conditions) by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Graduates of CQU's Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences between 30 October 2020 and 13 March 2026 (inclusive) can gain professional recognition as an Accredited Exercise Scientist with ESSA. CQUniversity is currently working with ESSA towards full accreditation and anticipates this will be granted in March 2026, which will be inclusive of students graduating up until 2029.
The course includes 150 hours of clinical placements broken into three blocks in Year 3. These consist of: Advanced Exercise Prescription and Delivery (ESSC13008) — approximately 50 hours in Term 1; Advanced Clinical Exercise Science (ESSC13005) — approximately 50 hours in Term 2; and Professional Practice in Exercise and Sports Science (ESSC13009) — approximately 50 hours in Term 2. Placements are with healthy or clinical populations under the supervision of a health professional and are unpaid.
You can choose one of three six-unit minors: Biomedical Sciences, Management and Business, or Secondary Teaching. The Biomedical Sciences Minor deepens your knowledge in areas such as cardiorespiratory, neurological, and sleep physiology, pathophysiology, sports injury prevention and management, and sports psychology. Completing the Secondary Teaching Minor may also provide a pathway into the Master of Teaching (Secondary) if you are interested in teaching physical education.
Yes, students studying via Online will be required to attend compulsory residential schools for some units. Units such as Skill Acquisition and Movement (ESSC11003), Functional Anatomy (ESSC12010), Cardiorespiratory Physiology and Measurement (BMSC12006), and Neurological Physiology & Measurement (BMSC12007) are among those that include a residential school component.
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences, you may be interested in the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology (an ideal option if you want to become an accredited Exercise Physiologist), the Master of Teaching (Secondary) (if you've completed the Secondary Teaching Minor and are interested in teaching physical education at secondary schools), or further study in areas such as exercise and sports science, physiotherapy and nutrition.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
