For domestic applicants, you need a study score of at least 27 in VCE units 3 and 4 English as an Additional Language (EAL), or at least 25 in English, Literature or English Language. Alternatively, you can meet requirements via a STAT score of at least 156 overall or a verbal reasoning sub-score of 155, or through satisfactory completion of post-secondary study equivalent to at least 24 RMIT credit points at undergraduate level.
Yes, as part of RMIT's 2026 pilot program, domestic applicants can meet minimum English language requirements through approved proficiency tests. For undergraduate entry, you need IELTS (Academic) 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT overall score of 79, PTE (Academic) 58 with no communication band below 50, or C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency 176 with no less than 169 in any component. Note that IELTS (General) is not accepted, and tests must be valid within 2 years of the test date.
Yes. Applicants with Australian interstate Year 12 or New Zealand NCEA Level 3 qualifications can meet requirements by achieving a study score in an English course deemed equivalent to the VCE requirements. For NCEA Level 3, applicants must have achieved 18 credits in equivalent English courses. Equivalent courses can be located on VTAC's Equivalent prerequisites for interstate and International Baccalaureate students webpage.
Yes, RMIT UniReady is an enabling course that prepares students to gain the skills they need to get into university. Satisfactory completion of RMIT UniReady can be used to meet English language requirements for entry into associate degrees. Additionally, satisfactory completion of 2 undergraduate level courses equivalent to at least 24 RMIT credit points, or an AQF accredited award at certificate IV or above, may satisfy post-secondary entry requirements.
Yes. If you are applying through the Schools Network Access Program (SNAP) or the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Access Program, the English study score for admission is 5 points lower than the published study score for bachelor degrees. Please note that the minimum English study scores for entry may also be set higher than the standard scores, so it is important to check the specific program page for any adjustments.
