The Bachelor of Fine Arts offers four majors: 2D Studio Practices (covering Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, and Exploded Studio), 3D Studio Practices (covering Ceramics, Jewellery and Material Practice, and Sculpture), Expanded Media Arts (exploring video, sound, animation, digital imaging, AI, 3D design, and emerging technologies), and Photography (providing strategies to observe, interpret and shape the world through analogue and digital facilities).
Students can choose from Fine Art minors including Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media Art, Jewellery and Material Practice, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Public Art and Social Practice, and Sculpture. Interdisciplinary minors are also available, including Foundations in Teaching, Gender Studies, Digital Communication, Illustration, Cinema Studies, Design for Sound Environments, and Design for Advanced Manufacture.
In the Bachelor of Fine Arts, assessment includes a combination of folio presentation, project responses, written reflections, and critical theory essays. The degree is designed so that the majority of time is spent in immersive studio experiences, with dedicated studio spaces and after-hours access to facilitate practice alongside peers.
Yes, as a result of RMIT's international connections, students have access to a variety of study tours including Japan, China, Nepal, and Europe. International academics and artists also feature as guest lecturers and artists-in-residence throughout the year. Additionally, students can connect with art students in the Hong Kong Art School program, as this degree is also delivered in Hong Kong by the Hong Kong Art School.
In the third year, study primarily focuses on an advanced capstone studio project where students consolidate their learning and develop a body of work at a professional level. Parallel with the individual studio project, students gain an understanding of professional and business practices through the Fine Art Professional Practice subject, which introduces enterprise formation opportunities and arts industry networks to establish graduates as independent art practitioners. At the end of the third year, students are invited to exhibit their major work at the annual RMIT School of Art Graduate Exhibition.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
