Common Questions
Upon completing the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (Secondary), you will develop the knowledge, skills and understanding required to teach across the health education and physical education disciplines. You can also broaden your teaching expertise through a second teaching area, with courses tailored to your campus location (Fremantle or Sydney).
The program includes 30 weeks of practical component (professional experience). This includes a 2-week PEX embedded in the Development and Learning course in Year 1, Professional Experience 2 in Year 2, Professional Experience 3 in Year 3, and a Professional Engagement and Internship in Year 4, ensuring extensive hands-on learning throughout the degree.
Yes, while there is a common national curriculum, each campus has campus-specific units. For example, Fremantle students take Outdoor Education Fundamentals and Sports Science for Health and Physical Education, while Sydney students take units such as Wellbeing Fundamentals for Success, Psychosocial Determinants of Health, Contemporary Family Issues, Community and Family Studies, and Principles of Strength and Conditioning. Sydney students in Year 1 can also choose to enrol in two courses at the Oran Park Study Centre and two at the Broadway Campus.
Applicants who have not successfully completed their secondary education in an English-speaking country must sit the IELTS Academic Test and achieve a minimum overall score of 7.5, with no score lower than 8.0 in speaking and listening, and no score lower than 7.0 in reading and writing.
There are multiple entry pathways available. You may qualify through Higher Education (successful completion of 4 subjects at undergraduate level or higher, or completion of Notre Dame's Tertiary Pathway Program), through VET study (AQF Certificate IV or higher from TAFE or an RTO), or through Work and Life Experience if you are at least 20 years of age and have left secondary education more than two years ago — which may include completing the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) or two Year 12 equivalent exams.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
