Students complete 220 hours of work integrated learning, comprising a 180-hour community-based placement with a health organisation and a 40-hour community engagement project. All placements are supported by CDU placement teams and a health academic, and students must meet mandatory pre-placement requirements such as a national/international police check, Working with Children check, Fitness to Practice statement, and a current immunisation schedule.

Yes, the Bachelor of Health Science is designed as a pathway into Master level studies, enabling graduates to pursue careers in occupational therapy, nutrition, speech and language pathology, physiotherapy, health research, and public health. CDU also offers combined Bachelor/Master double degrees such as the Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Occupational Therapy, which can be completed in 4 years instead of 5.
A total of 240 credit points must be completed. This includes 140 credit points of compulsory core units (14 units), 50 credit points of specialist electives (including 40 credit points of required practicum units plus 10 credit points from a choice of specialist units), and 50 credit points of general electives (5 units chosen from specialist elective units or other undergraduate/approved postgraduate units offered by the University). A maximum of 100 credit points may be taken from 100-level units, and a minimum of 60 credit points must be at 300-level or above.
