Course Overview

About This Course

The Bachelor of Health Science (Chinese Medicine) provides the understanding and practical skills needed to improve wellness, and is designed to meet all three divisions of Chinese medicine practitioner registration: acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Chinese herbal dispensing. The course is approved by the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia and TEQSA (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency), and is taught over four years by practitioners who remain active in the field. Students develop knowledge and practical skills in treating acute and chronic illnesses through Chinese medicine techniques and herbal remedies, completing 745 hours of professional clinical practice. Learning outcomes include safely applying acupuncture and prescribing and dispensing Chinese herbs to treat a variety of conditions, exploring the relationship between mind, body and spirit, and applying ancillary techniques such as cupping and moxa therapy in clinical practice.

On graduation, students are eligible to join the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association, and may apply for recognition with the Australian Natural Therapists Association and the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, subject to eligibility requirements. This AQF Level 7 course is delivered on campus and in blended mode at the Melbourne campus, full time over four years, with part-time options available, by Torrens University Australia Ltd.

Hear From the Students

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
