Course Overview

About This Course

The Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) teaches a system of healthcare based on traditional philosophies and principles, using a wide variety of tools and techniques to achieve optimal health for a patient. Students learn to understand the body and disease processes, holistically assess functional disturbances, and apply herbal, nutritional and lifestyle medicines alongside traditional naturopathic techniques to stimulate healing, developing into client-centred practitioners who use evidence-based practice to inform individualised, safe and effective care. The course includes a comprehensive, compulsory in-person work-integrated learning program covering herbal manufacturing and all aspects of clinical practice, totalling 460 hours. Students gain hands-on experience at the purpose-built student-led clinic, The Practice Wellbeing Centre, consulting with members of the public under the guidance of experienced naturopaths, preparing them to practise confidently as qualified naturopaths in the community.

Learning outcomes include working within a collaborative health environment to achieve the best client care, exploring traditional healing methods from across human history, and considering the role of naturopathy within a community context. Graduates may apply for membership with the Australian Traditional Medicine Association, the Australian Natural Therapists Association, the Complementary Medicine Association, the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia and the Australian Naturopathic Practitioners Association, and the course is a proud member of the World Naturopathic Federation, the global peak body for naturopaths. This AQF Level 7 course is delivered on campus and in blended mode at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, full time over four years or part time over around eight years.

Hear From the Students

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
