About This Course

The Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedicine) at Western Sydney University prepares students for professional paramedic practice. Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Students must meet the inherent requirements across eight domains: ethical behaviour, behavioural stability, legal, communication, cognition, sensory abilities, strength and mobility, and sustainable performance.
Verbal communication equivalent to an IELTS level 7 or above is a requirement for student registration with AHPRA.
Students must comply with the requirements for student registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Students must comply with relevant child protection and safety legislation.
Students must comply with the policies of clinical facilities, e.g. Work Health and Safety Act and uniform requirements.
Students are required to undertake activities which reflect the Australian health care context, which may include mixed gender, religious and culturally diverse environments.
Students must demonstrate sufficient visual, auditory and tactile abilities to perform the required range of clinical skills.
Students must be able to safely carry medical equipment of up to 15kg and perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, twisting and bending.
Students with a disability or chronic health condition may be able to have reasonable adjustments made to enable them to meet these requirements, provided adjustments do not fundamentally change the nature of the inherent requirement.
