Students can choose from six majors: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health (focusing on digital health systems at the intersection of healthcare, data science and emerging technologies), Biomedical Science (anatomy, biochemistry, genomics, immunology, pathology and physiology), Clinical Technologies (endorsed by the Australian Neurophysiological Scientists of Australia - ANSA), Neuroscience (neuroimaging using MRI and MEG machines), Nutrition (hands-on lab-based), and Public Health and Health Promotion (leveraging digital technology).
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Applied Innovation requires students to complete units of study to the value of 400 credit points, with all units valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated. The course takes 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time, and is studied at the Hawthorn campus.
For 2026, the yearly Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) tuition fee is $13,467.00 AUD, with a total estimated course fee of $53,868.00 AUD. An alternative total fee of $40,520.00 AUD is also indicated. A Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of $373.00 applies. Fees are estimates and subject to change based on individual circumstances at enrolment.
Yes, there is an optional professional work placement component worth 100 credit points, consisting of Work Experience in Industry A and B (practical units, 25.0 credit points each) and Integrated Professional Placement A and B - Health (academic units, 25.0 credit points each). Additionally, Work Integrated Learning is a guaranteed part of all Swinburne bachelor degrees, allowing students to bolster their CV with real industry experience while they study.
The course is available with two intakes: Semester 2 starting 03 August 2026 (last date to apply: 29 July 2026) and Semester 1 starting 01 March 2027 (last date to apply: 24 February 2027). Both intakes are available at the Hawthorn campus.
