Bachelor of High Performance Sport

The Bachelor of High Performance Sport, which ACU abbreviates as BHighPerfSport, is a 240 credit point degree with a minimum duration of two and a half years full-time or the equivalent part-time. ACU's 2025 handbook lists Blacktown, Brisbane, Melbourne and Strathfield as the approved locations for the course. To qualify for the degree a student completes 190 credit points of specified units, 20 credit points of professional experience units including the zero-credit unit EXSC218 Internship Preparation for Coaching and Prescription, 20 credit points of Core Curriculum units and 10 credit points of elective units. Students are also required to complete 200 hours of internship, of which at least 140 hours must be undertaken in accordance with the practicum guidelines set out by Exercise and Sports Science Australia. Units listed in the schedule include ANAT100 Anatomical Foundations of Exercise Science, BIOL125 Human Biology 1, EXSC119 From Health to High Performance Sport, EXSC122 Research and Ethics in Exercise Science, EXSC187 Growth, Motor Development and Ageing, EXSC199 Psychology of Sport, EXSC204 Exercise Prescription and Delivery, EXSC216 Resistance Training: Science and Application, EXSC222 Functional Anatomy, EXSC224 Mechanical Bases of Exercise, EXSC225 Physiological Bases of Exercise and EXSC230 Motor Control and Learning. Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator, and in all aspects of progression through the course they are advised by the Course Coordinator.
