About This Course

The Bachelor of History offers a dynamic and comprehensive exploration of the human past, from ancient civilisations to contemporary global developments. Students gain critical thinking, research, synthesis, and communication skills through engagement with primary sources, material culture, textual evidence and historical scholarship.

The degree includes four majors: Ancient History, Archaeology, Modern History, and Public History and Heritage, enabling specialisation while maintaining a strong multidisciplinary core. Through analytical inquiry, debate, and evidence-based argument, students develop the ability to interpret fragmentary or conflicting sources and communicate effectively in academic and professional contexts. What English subject results do I need for entry into the Bachelor of History?

For academic entry, you need a minimum Band 5 in HSC English Standard or English as an Additional Language or Dialect, a minimum Band 4 in HSC English Advanced, or a minimum E2 in HSC English Extension 1 or Extension 2.

Do I need more than just an English subject result to be eligible?

Yes, in addition to an English subject result, you also need to have achieved at least a Band 4 in any other Category A HSC subject, or a minimum E2 in any other Extension subject beyond those listed for English.
