Students complete a total of 400 hours of industry placement across two placements — Professional Placement I (200 hours) in Year 2 Semester 2, and Professional Placement II (200 hours) in Year 3 Semester 2. These placements take place in settings such as community and welfare services, public and community health organisations, disability and support services, and counselling and social support agencies.
In addition to academic requirements, applicants must complete a CASPer test (approximately AUD $80), provide a Working with Children Check, and provide a National Police Record Check.
The curriculum integrates key disciplines such as sociology, psychology, counselling, public policy, and health ethics. Students also explore critical areas including mental health, disability support, aged care, youth services, Indigenous health, and substance use, ensuring they graduate ready to address complex community needs.
Yes, applicants may also be considered through a VET/TAFE Diploma qualification, the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), prior higher education study, or relevant work and life experience.
