About This Course

The standalone Bachelor of Human Resource Management is now offered by The University of Notre Dame Australia as the Bachelor of Commerce (Major: Human Resource Management). If you love working with people and believe happy staff are the most important asset in any business, a career in Human Resource Management could be a perfect fit — this degree teaches students how to use human resources to maximise both productivity and staff happiness.

Notre Dame equips students with the practical and theoretical skills needed to identify and solve workforce problems in an ever-changing business environment. Small class sizes and dedicated lecturers mean a highly personalised education, and all Commerce students complete 150 hours of hands-on workplace experience. Accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute, the major covers employment relations, employment law, human resource development and change management, with insight from experienced lecturers and regular industry guest speakers.

The three-year (or part-time equivalent) program begins with eight foundation courses covering Accounting, Business Law, Marketing and Business Communication, before progressing to HR-focused courses such as Change Management, Organisational Behaviour, Employment Law and Strategic Workforce Issues. Students can combine the major with a second Business major or a program from Arts & Sciences, Law, or Education.

Applicants with Higher Education: successful completion of 4 subjects at undergraduate level or higher, OR successful completion of the Notre Dame Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP) or an equivalent tertiary preparation program
Applicants with VET study: successful completion of AQF Certificate IV or higher from an accredited provider such as TAFE or an RTO
Applicants with Work and Life Experience (20+ years of age, 2+ years since secondary education): at least two years of relevant work experience (STAT may be required), OR STAT scores of at least 135 (Multiple Choice) and 140 (Written English), OR two Year 12 WACE/HSC exams equivalent to the Indicative ATAR/Selection Rank above
