Common Questions
All applicants, whether domestic or international, must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum UNSW English Language Requirements. You can demonstrate this through English Language Tests and University English Courses, prior study in the medium of English, or other qualifications accepted by UNSW.
New candidates are expected to enrol by the Term Start Date. The HDR Academic Calendar consists of four terms per year. For 2026, Term 1 starts 16 February, Term 2 starts 1 June, Term 3 starts 14 September, and Summer Term starts 15 December 2025. New candidates may also enrol up to one month before the term start date.
Yes. When submitting your application via UNSW Apply Online, you can indicate that you wish to be considered for a scholarship and select the scholarship round for your preferred term start date. UNSW has multiple scholarship rounds per year for both domestic and international applicants, with specific application deadlines for each round.
HDR applicants can request to defer for up to one year after the initial offer term. UNSW HDR Scholarship offers may be deferred on a case-by-case basis. Deferrals are only approved where conditions are met, including continuing to meet UNSW entry requirements and availability of supervision and resources. If you have a conditional offer, email the relevant admissions team; if you have an unconditional offer, log in to Accept Online to request deferral.
You need to prepare supporting documentation as outlined in the UNSW Document Submission Guidelines. Documents in a language other than English must be translated by an accredited NAATI translator or a registered translator accepted by an Australian diplomatic mission. International applicants must also complete a Financial Declaration Form and provide evidence of financial capacity to cover tuition, living costs, and overseas student health cover (OSHC) for the duration of study.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
