Yes. The Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)/Bachelor of Industrial Design (Honours) is fully accredited by Engineers Australia, which is a signatory to the Washington Accord. This means the degree is internationally recognised and graduates are able to practise as professional engineers in many countries. Graduates are also eligible for graduate and/or professional membership of Engineers Australia, and students may be eligible for membership of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and the International Interaction Design Association (IxDA).
The program is taught predominantly at the City campus. However, students may have to travel to the Brunswick or Bundoora campuses for laboratory, work-integrated learning (WIL), and/or capstone project work.
Students have the opportunity to undertake a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 2, 3 or 4 of the program. This ensures graduates are job-ready upon completion of the degree.
In Years 1 and 2, students study basic mechanical engineering and industrial design courses covering engineering sciences, mathematics, engineering design, professional practice, and the socio-cultural factors of design. All students also complete an Introduction to Engineering course incorporating the Engineers Without Borders Challenge. In Years 3, 4 and 5, specialist mechanical engineering elective courses are offered across various streams, and students complete a year-long, research-led and industry-engaged design project. A capstone project in the final year develops the skills needed to commence a professional engineering career.
Domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place pay a student contribution amount between AU$4,738 and AU$17,399 per standard full-time year, depending on the discipline band of their enrolled courses. Most engineering and design courses fall in the Allied Health, Engineering, Science and related fields band at AU$9,537 per standard year. Eligible students may defer payment using a HECS-HELP loan. An additional Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of up to AU$373 also applies in 2026.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
