About This Course

Information and communication technology – or ICT – is at the forefront of the ongoing digital revolution. Our Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology/ Bachelor of Applied Innovation allows you to combine ICT with innovation to effect meaningful change in the ICT field. The Bachelor of Applied Innovation will develop your collaboration, creativity, and complex problem-solving skills in real-world contexts and leads to a final year semester project and an optional industry-based learning year. Along the way you'll build skills in areas like Web programming, App programming, Server configuration, Critical thinking, Creative problem-solving, Adaptability. Graduates typically move into roles such as Innovation consultant, Strategic designer, Transformation lead, Security and risk consultant, Web developer.

Domestic students:

Successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification
Completion or partial completion of an approved tertiary qualification (including certificates IV (completed), diplomas, advanced diplomas, associate degrees and degrees).
Applicants without a formal qualification may be considered for entry if they have significant and relevant work experience and/or upon completion of the STAT test.
Guaranteed Entry ATAR 60.0
A study score of 25 in Algorithmics (HESS), any Information Technology, any Mathematics or any Science equals 2 aggregate points per study.
A study score of 30 in Algorithmics (HESS), any Information Technology, any Mathematics or any Science equals 3 aggregate points per study.

Students can choose from three majors: Information Technology (covering advanced web development, data visualisation, business systems design, requirements analysis and modelling), Network Technology (focusing on the design, installation, and management of complex ICT infrastructure), and Software Technology (covering software programming, enhancement, and application for a career in software development).

Is there an industry placement component in this double degree?

Yes. Work Integrated Learning is a guaranteed part of the degree, and students will apply their learning in six professionally focused, industry-linked projects. There is also an optional professional placement of either 6 months (minor) or 12 months (major), which involves Work Experience in Industry units alongside Integrated Professional Placement units.

How many credit points are required to complete the double degree, and how long does it take?

Successful completion requires students to complete units of study to the value of 400 credit points. The course takes 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
