Common Questions
As you approach the final stretch of your degree, you'll have the opportunity to apply your knowledge in the real world through one of three Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects: a professional internship, a multidisciplinary project, or an independent project. Opting for the professional internship means you'll join one of JCU's industry partners for 100 hours of work placement, gaining valuable insights while completing assignments that directly reflect your on-the-job experience.
In the Bachelor of Information Technology degree, you will study a broad range of subject areas including Software Engineering, Networking, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. You will also have the opportunity to minor in education curriculum, governance and society, the internet of things, computer science and networking, or games design, allowing you to focus your studies in a particular direction or expand your career options.
The minimum adjusted ATAR required for entry is 63. Recommended knowledge includes English (Units 3/4, C) and General Maths or Mathematical Methods (Units 3/4, C). Applicants with an ATAR of 73 and above are guaranteed entry but must meet subject prerequisites, while those with an ATAR of 90 and above are guaranteed entry with all subject prerequisites waived. JCU Prep also provides a pathway into this course for those who need to meet entry requirements.
The estimated annual Commonwealth Supported Fee for a full-time study load is $9,430 AUD, plus a Student Services and Amenities Fee. Please note this estimate is variable and subject to fluctuation depending on choice of elective subjects. Fee deferral options such as HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP are available if eligible, and a variety of scholarships are also available.
The Bachelor of Information Technology is available at JCU's Townsville, Cairns, and Brisbane campuses, as well as fully online. Intakes commence in January, May, and September across all locations. The course takes 3 years to complete full-time, or up to 6 years part-time.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
