The Bachelor of Information Technology is a multi-skilled learning experience that gives students a solid foundation to launch an IT career, with ACU's Future Ready employability program built in to systematically develop professional identity, experience, job-ready skills and networks. Accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and recognised through the Seoul Accord, the degree has United Nations sustainable goals and a suite of Microsoft certifications embedded, including Microsoft Excel Associate, Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals, Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals, all highly sought after by employers. Study builds professional knowledge and technical know-how across data science and analytics, programming, artificial intelligence, cyber security and application development, and students can specialise through majors in Business Information Systems or Data Science. An intercultural communication module develops the cultural awareness and communication skills that are vital in the global workplace, and students can extend that experience through a Global Virtual Classroom, study at ACU's Rome Campus, or an international study tour. The course takes three years full-time or equivalent part-time and requires 240 credit points made up of foundation units, a community engagement unit, Core Curriculum units, electives, and either IT specified units or a major. Students gain up to 220 hours of workplace and community experience before graduating: 140 hours of industry placement through the Work Integrated Learning program, and 35 hours of community engagement with not-for-profit organisations serving communities experiencing marginalisation and disadvantage.
