The Bachelor of Information Technology is designed to be a 3-year full-time or equivalent part-time course. The academic year is comprised of three trimesters, each of 12 weeks duration, with a typical full-time delivery format of three subjects in trimester one, three subjects in trimester two and two subjects in trimester three.
For international students, the fee is $2,475 per subject, with annual fees of $19,800 and total course fees of $59,400. For domestic students, the fee is $1,667 per subject, with annual fees of $13,333 and total course fees of $40,000. Fees are subject to periodical review and may change.
Yes, students can choose from specialisations including Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence. Students completing the Cybersecurity Specialisation choose two electives from options such as Information Security Management, Cyber Security Law, Regulation and Policy, Human-Centred Cybersecurity, and Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing. Students completing the Artificial Intelligence Specialisation choose from electives including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data and AI Ethics, Adversarial Machine Learning in Large Language Models, and Natural Language Processing and Generative AI.
SHEA's partnership with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) allows each student free membership to ACS. Each student will have access to over 35,000 learning resources, 400 professional events, the chance to be professionally mentored and access to insights into the tech industry. Students will also be encouraged to join the Association for Information Systems as student members.
The assessment types in the course are predominantly authentic assessments with some traditional assessments for knowledge-based subjects in the first year. These include problem-based tasks (either individually or in teams), case studies, presentations, reports, peer and self-assessment (moderated), quizzes, and projects (individual and in teams).
