About This Course

With extensive work-integrated learning opportunities featuring a three-month paid industry placement, our Bachelor of Information Technology (Co-op) will provide you with hands-on industry-relevant experience to launch a successful career in the Information, communication and technology (ICT) industries. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Co-op) will enable you to acquire valuable experience through a supervised industry placement, typically of three months duration. The placement is an opportunity for you to earn while you learn, put theory into practice, and develop industry networks. This course provides you with a solid grounding in the core body of knowledge and skills of ICT professionals, as defined by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). During your studies, your core units will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of key areas in IT and computer-based systems. From your second term, you will begin to study units from your chosen major*:

Artificial Intelligence - Coming in Term 1, 2027
Business Analysis
Cyber Security.

Through the selection of a minor and electives, you can further specialise in ICT and/or broaden your knowledge into other disciplines. Available minors* include:

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

English (Units 3 & 4, C) or equivalent.

Domestic students:

Minimum rank threshold: ATAR 84 | Selection Rank 84. This is the minimum eligible rank for entry to this course; achieving it does not guarantee a place, as entry may be competitive.
Your entry score is an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) if you are completing or have recently completed Year 12, or a Selection Rank calculated from prior VET or higher education study, or from work and life experience.

International students:

International applicants are assessed on their overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications rather than on an ATAR or Selection Rank, and must meet the English language proficiency requirements below.
If you do not meet the entry requirements, CQUniversity offers English language and alternative entry pathways.

English language proficiency (all applicants)

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or the United States of America, you are required to meet the English language proficiency requirements set by the University.

You are required to provide documentation confirming completion of:

a secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
a completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate IV or Diploma level qualification, or
a Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0.

These qualifications must be completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or the United States of America to meet the English language proficiency requirements.

If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking), or
a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT overall score of at least 75 with no score less than 17 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking), or
a Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) overall score of at least 54 with no less than 46 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking), or
an Occupational English Test with a minimum result of 'B' in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking).

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.
