About This Course

The Bachelor of Information Technology has been designed with significant industry and expert academic engagement to ensure that it is fit-for-purpose and addresses the needs and contemporary issues that graduates face in a changing global marketplace. The course learning outcomes for the BIT (Cybersecurity) are designed to ensure that students understand and apply a comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and technical concepts to pursue IT-related careers, particularly in the fields of database management, networking, security, and software development. Graduates will be able to assess the impact of information technology on both business and society, apply accumulated IT expertise to create practical solutions for real-world challenges within a team context, use IT tools to collect, refine, and improve data with the goal of identifying opportunities and addressing real-world challenges, and demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in applying IT knowledge and skills ethically and responsibly across various projects. The BIT (Cybersecurity) course structure and content have been meticulously aligned with the accreditation requirements of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

Domestic Applicants:

Successful completion of Year 12 or its equivalent, either within Australia or abroad, provided that the instruction was conducted in English.
Successful completion of an Australian qualification that is recognized as at least AQF Certificate IV. The minimum duration of study should be equivalent to one school year within the last two years.
Satisfactory completion of an accredited Tertiary Preparation Program or a Foundation Year Program offered by an Australian university.
Satisfactory completion of one year of accredited full-time study at a registered institution of tertiary education, at AQF level 4 or higher.

International Applicants:

Completion of a qualification that is considered equivalent to Australian Year 12.
International students whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
IELTS (Academic): Overall 6.0 (no band less than 6)
TOEFL (Paper Based Test): 500 (min. 4.5 TWE)
PTE: 50 (no band less than 50)
Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): Level B2 (169) (no skill score less than 169)
International students who fail to meet the prescribed English proficiency requirements may enroll in an ELICOS program before commencing their studies.
Mathematics is not an essential prerequisite; a diagnostic test will be introduced to assess mathematical skills at the start of the course.

Yes, prospective or enrolled MIHE students can apply for Credit or RPL in writing by providing certified copies of academic transcripts, records of achievement, statements of results, testamur or other relevant evidence, an explanation of results, an extract from the relevant handbook, and a unit syllabus including assessment requirements. Any credit or RPL awarded is subject to MIHE Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Procedure and assessed on a case-by-case basis.
