Common Questions
At UNSW, tuition fees for international students are calculated based on the courses (subjects) you select, rather than on the degree (program) you choose. Since UNSW's flexible degree structure allows you to choose from a range of courses in different faculties, your actual tuition fees will depend on the specific courses you pick within your degree.
Most undergraduate degrees offer Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) that subsidise the cost of the degree. The remaining cost is called the student contribution. You can pay the student contribution upfront, but often people who are eligible choose to take a HECS-HELP loan that they repay later.
All domestic and international undergraduate, postgraduate and research students at UNSW must make an annual compulsory contribution to the Student Services & Amenities Fee (SSAF). This fee provides essential campus services, development and support for all students, aiming to improve your overall student experience. The maximum SSAF for 2025 is A$365. Domestic students can apply for SA-HELP to defer the fee each term, while international students must pay this fee upfront. SSAF is not covered by HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP.
Weekly living expenses vary depending on accommodation type. For example, on-campus apartment costs range from A$555 to A$960 per week in total, on-campus college from A$505 to A$760 per week, share house from A$590 to A$780 per week, and a 1 bedroom unit from A$785 to A$1,335 per week. From 10 May 2024, a single student must show they have the financial capacity to cover living costs of at least A$29,710 per year to receive a student visa.
An online application costs A$150. An AUD $150 non-refundable application processing fee will be incurred for each online application you submit. Payment can be made by credit card only. Applications for admission to an honours year program, diploma programs, postgraduate research programs, programs offered at UNSW Canberra, and postgraduate domestic applicants will not incur an application processing fee.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
