Common Questions
All students must complete at least 4 credit points of international experience, which must include either International Internship B (AIS331, 4 credit points) or International Internship A (AIS330, 2 credit points) with additional credit points selected from approved options. Approved international experiences include a trimester of study at an overseas university exchange partner, an in-country language program (in Chinese, Indonesian, Arabic, or Spanish), an approved study abroad program or study tour (AIS203 or other), or an approved onshore internship with an international organisation (available for AIS330 only).
You can choose to major in anthropology, Arabic, Chinese, Indigenous studies, Indonesian, international relations, Middle East studies, politics and policy studies, or Spanish. Each major offers a unique perspective to your degree.
This course has a minimum ATAR requirement of 80 including selection adjustments. For English language proficiency, you need a VCE English Units 3 and 4 study score of at least 25 in EAL or at least 20 in any other English, or an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no band score less than 6.0, or equivalent other evidence of English language proficiency.
To complete the Bachelor of International Studies (Global Scholar), you must pass 24 credit points. This includes the compulsory 0-credit-point DAI001 module, 6 credit points of core units, 1 major (8 credit points), 1 minor (4 credit points), and a minimum of 4 credit points of international experience. There is also a maximum of 10 credit points at level 1, a minimum of 14 credit points at levels 2 and 3, a minimum of 6 credit points at level 3, and a maximum of 8 credit points taken outside the Faculty of Arts and Education.
The Bachelor of International Studies (Global Scholar) is available to commence in Trimester 1 (starting March) and Trimester 2 (starting July) at Burwood (Melbourne), Waterfront (Geelong), and Online. Direct applications to Deakin for Trimester 2 2026 close 21 June 2026.
