Legal Internship
A practical placement completed over 4 weeks (totalling 140 hours, at 35 hours per week), designed to expose students to the application of the law in practice, develop skills in legal research, communication, drafting, practice management, and problem solving, and enable students to observe and reflect upon the values, ethical standards, and conduct of the legal profession in practice.

Yes. The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board. By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT). The minimum score for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is a Selection Rank of 90. Your Selection Rank is your ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any adjustments you are eligible to receive. The equivalent IBAS is 35.25.
Law students must complete a Legal Internship subject (LLB3397), which is a practical placement completed over 4 weeks totalling 140 hours at 35 hours per week. It is designed to expose students to the application of the law in practice, enable students to understand the importance of developing skills of legal research, communication, drafting, practice management, and problem solving, and enable students to observe and reflect upon the values, ethical standards, and conduct of the legal profession in practice.
The Bachelor of Science (SMAH) – Bachelor of Laws takes 5 years full-time, or part-time equivalent. For Autumn Session 2026, key application deadlines are: Domestic (UAC Early Bird) — 30 September 2025; International — 9 December 2025; Domestic (direct) — 31 December 2025; Domestic (UAC final round) — 29 January 2026.
Yes, Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are available for this course. For eligible domestic students, Australian government funding will contribute towards your tuition fees. The remaining proportion, known as a student contribution, will depend on when you begin study (enrolment year) and your study area.
