About This Course

Knowledge of the intricacies of the law and of business can give you a competitive edge, regardless of the field you work in. Our four-year double degree takes you into many areas of the law relevant to Australian organisations — from industrial relations to corporate finance. Your studies are reinforced by a professional work experience placement in a relevant business organisation, where you will gain hands-on learning. Graduates are prepared for a wide range of career opportunities extending across the law and business in the private and public sectors. The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) fulfils the academic requirements for admission to the legal profession. Additional practical legal training is required to practise as a lawyer.

English Language Requirements (International and non-English previous study applicants): IELTS Overall Score 6.0
IELTS Listening: minimum 5.5
IELTS Reading: minimum 5.5
IELTS Speaking: minimum 5.5

Inherent Requirements: None
To be eligible to receive the Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Business, students must complete the equivalent of 32 units (384 credit points), comprising 31 core units (384 credit points)
Applicants who do not have the required entry mark for a double degree in law are encouraged to apply for the Bachelor of Business in the first instance
Credit for Prior Learning (Advanced Standing or RPL) may be available based on existing knowledge and skills

Does the Bachelor of Laws qualify me to practise as a lawyer?

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) fulfils the academic requirements for admission to the legal profession. However, additional practical legal training is required to practise as a lawyer. The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the NSW Legal Profession Admission Board (LPAB). Students who intend to practise law outside Australia should check with the relevant country's admission body to confirm their practising requirements.

Is there a work placement included in this double degree?

Yes, this course includes professional work experience as part of the Bachelor of Business. Students gain hands-on learning in a relevant business organisation.

Can I exit the double degree early with a single qualification?

Yes, students may be eligible to exit with a Bachelor of Laws after completing the equivalent of 24 units (288 credit points), as per the Bachelor of Laws Schedule of Units.

What are the intake dates and locations available for this course?

For domestic students, the course is available starting in March, July, and October, at both Gold Coast and Online. For international students, intakes are available in March and June, on-campus at Gold Coast only. Note that some locations may not have all intake periods available.

What are the indicative fees for this course?

For domestic students, the indicative fee is $15,810 for the first year only, under a Commonwealth supported place. For international students studying at Gold Coast, the annual tuition fee is $26,000 (AUD $3,250 per unit), based on completing 8 units per year. Fees are subject to change, including annual increases over the duration of the course. International students are also required to pay OSHC for the duration of their visa in advance.
